Dhunya seeks PNC ticket to contest parliamentary election

Former Foreign Minister Dhunya Maumoon has submitted her application seeking the ruling Peoples' National Congress (PNC) ticket to contest the parliamentary election.

Dhunya hopes to contest for the Hulhumale South constituency. She expressed her commitment to providing dedicated services to the constituents and asked for their support.

Dhunya remained in the Maldives National Party (MNP) standing behind the party's then-presidential candidate Mohamed Nazim until the conclusion of the first round of the last presidential election. However, she shifted her support to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu in the second round and subsequently joined the PPM-PNC coalition.

Dhunya Maumoon, the daughter of former President Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom, has held various significant positions in the government, including Minister of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Minister, and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
