Maldives reports 5.2 percent increase in fish exports

The Maldives has exported 63,071.4 tonnes of fish as of the end of October this year, an increase of 5.2 percent compared to the same period last year.

According to data released by the central bank, Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA), the Maldives exported 59,952.4 metric tonnes of fish during the same period last year.

According to statistics, among the various types of fish exports, Skipjack Tuna was the most prominent, with 44,102 metric tonnes exported. Additionally, 6,454 metric tonnes of yellowfin tuna and 10,613 metric tonnes of canned and poached fish were exported.

According to the MMA, the price of skipjack tuna stood at MVR 27.8 per kg in the international market in September this year.
