Gov't extends Deputy High Commissioner Mizna Shareef's term

The government has decided to extend the tenure of the Deputy High Commissioner to Malaysia, Mariam Mizna Shareef.

A Foreign Ministry official revealed that Mizna's term has been extended until March of the coming year, with the official notification of the decision sent on December 20.

The extension of Mizna's appointment coincides with the resignation of her father, Maradhoo MP Ibrahim 'Mavota' Shareef, from the opposing Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).

The decision to extend Mizna's appointment comes while the Foreign Ministry had directed some diplomats stationed abroad to return home by November 18, as per the instructions of the Transition Office.
