Hulhumale' municipal services transferred to Male' City Council

Hulhumale municipal services have been transferred to the Male City Council.

The government announced on December 31 that it would transfer Hulhumale' municipal services to the Male' City Council.

As per the decision, an agreement was signed on behalf of the government by Finance Minister Dr. Mohamed Shafeeq at a ceremony held on Thursday. Urbanco was represented by its Managing Director Fazul Rasheed, and Male' City Council by Deputy Mayor Ahmed Nareesh.

Under the terms of the agreement, Male' City Council is set to take over all municipal services in Hulhumale within one month from the signing date. Moreover, Urbanco employees engaged in providing residential services, along with land, buildings, vehicles, tools, and equipment associated with residential services, will be shared with the City Council. Urbanco has also agreed to share the work site and office space with the city council at no cost for a duration of 12 months.

The transfer of Hulhumale to the Male' City Council was a presidential pledge of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and was included among the goals for the first 100 days of administration.
