The Chinese government has provided 1,000 scholarship opportunities for Maldivian students, as revealed by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu during a meeting with the Maldivian community residing in Beijing, China.
Speaking at the meeting, President Dr. Muizzu said the 1,000 scholarships are targeted for civil servants. Over the next five years, students selected for these scholarships will travel to China for their education. The president said at least 200 civil servants will go on the scholarships annually.
During the meeting, President Muizzu clarified the difficulties faced by Maldivians living in China and assured them that he would find solutions to their concerns.
The President and the First Lady are currently undertaking a state visit to China at the invitation of Xi Jinping, the President of China. A high-level delegation is accompanying the President and the First Lady on this visit.
