EC seeks election officials for parliamentary election

The Election Commission (EC) has announced the recruitment of election officials for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

The parliamentary elections are scheduled to be held on March 17, during the first week of the month of Ramadan.

The requirements for officials include:

- Age between 18 and 65 years.
- Not holding a senior position in any political party.
- Not actively involved in the campaign activities of any candidate.
- Not a close relative (mother, father, son, wife, husband, brother, sister) of a candidate contesting in the applied constituency/island.
- Having the necessary education and experience to carry out the duties of an official
- Medically fit for the responsibilities
- Not serving a criminal sentence.
- Not a school student.

The salaries for the positions are as follows:

Head of Polling Station: MVR 2,650
Assistant to the Head of Polling Station: MVR 2,350
Polling Station Official: MVR 2,250
Reserve Officer: MVR 1,000

According to EC, the salary includes phone, training, and polling day allowances. In addition, an allowance of NVR 500 will be given to each official working at the polling station as the election day coincides with the month of Ramadan. If meals and tea are not provided by the commission, MVR 250 for Ramadan breakfast and MVR 100 for post-breakfast will be deposited along with the officials' allowance.

Those interested in serving as officials must submit their applications by 3:00 pm on March 5. Successful applicants are required to complete a training program for the position. Those who do not complete the training program will not be allowed to become an official.
