Italy has emerged as the second-largest tourist market for the Maldives.
A total of 23,749 tourists visited the Maldives from Italy as of Tuesday, according to figures released by the Tourism Ministry. This figure accounts for 10 percent of the total 236,730 tourists visiting the Maldives thus far this year.
The number of tourists visiting the country so far this year has increased by 13.7 percent compared to the same period last year, according to the ministry.
