Local Government Minister Adam Shareef has said the ministry is working on making arrangements such that households in Male' City do not have to get registered to receive rice and flour given out by the government for Ramadan.
In January, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, following his state visit to China, revealed that each household would receive a 10kg bag of flour and rice ahead of the holy month. He underscored that this was just the beginning of initiatives aimed at supporting the public, with further assistance planned to bolster self-sufficiency and reduce reliance on specific countries for essential supplies.
On Thursday, Male' City Council issued an announcement stating that households in the Male' Area will have to get registered to receive the goods. According to the City Council, registration will be opened through a dedicated registration portal next week. However, the announcement was met with concern from the public, with many expressing that there was no need for such a registration.
Addressing these concerns, Minister Adam Shareef has assured that households in the Male' area would receive the items without the hassle of registration.
