PPM-PNC withdraws no-confidence motion against Speaker, Dept. Speaker

The PPM-PNC coalition has withdrawn its no-confidence motion against Parliament Speaker Mohamed Aslam and the Deputy-Speaker, Ahmed Saleem.

Last month, the PPM-PNC coalition submitted no-confidence motions against both the Speaker and Deputy Speaker, garnering signatures from 23 MPs. The notices of the motion were issued to both individuals on February 4.

An MP representing PPM-PNC Wednesday said the coalition does not wish to currently pursue the no-confidence motion against the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker.

"The Parliament has been informed of our decision not to proceed with the matter at this time," the member stated.

The member added that some of the MPs who signed the no-confidence motion have since withdrawn their signatures.
