Defense Minister summoned to 241 Committee over Indian troops boarding Maldivian boats

Defense Minister Ghassan Maumoon has been summoned before the Parliament's Security Services Committee (241 Committee) to address the issue of Indian military personnel allegedly boarding Maldivian fishing boats within Maldivian waters.

On January 31, an Indian navy vessel approached and boarded the "Asurumaa 3," an ADh. Mahibadhoo fishing vessel engaged in fishing activities within Maldivian territory. Crew members were reportedly threatened during the encounter. Similar incidents occurred involving two other Maldivian vessels, "Niru 7" and "Maahoara 3," on the same day and the following day.

Minister Ghassan has also been summoned to Parliament for questioning over the incidents. The motion was moved by Democrats' President and Henveiru West MP Hassan Latheef.
