China expresses interest in importing Maldivian tuna products

China has expressed interest in importing Maldivian tuna products to China.

China’s Ambassador to the Maldives, Wang Lixin, reshared a post on X by the Maldives Fisheries Ministry on the occasion of World Tuna Day, stating that she was looking forward to the Maldivian tuna's easy entry into the Chinese market with the ratification of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between both countries.

Speaking at the Maldivian Business Forum held earlier in January this year in China, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu had affirmed that the Maldives was ready to implement the China-Maldives FTA at the earliest. The FTA aims to increase Maldives' fish exports to China, he had said.
