Six children being treated for dengue fever at IGMH

Six children are currently under treatment for dengue fever at the main government hospital, Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

Dr. Ahmed Faisal, a senior pediatrician working at IGMH, wrote on X about a current surge in mosquito activity. He said six children are being treated at IGMH for dengue, a mosquito-borne disease.

"Some children even need blood transfusions. Don't forget that this is a life-threatening disease and know that it is crucial to remain vigilant against mosquitoes," he wrote.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has echoed these concerns and urged the public to take special measures to prevent the spread of dengue fever and chikungunya, another mosquito-borne disease. HPA has emphasized the importance of eliminating mosquito breeding grounds, especially with the upcoming rainy season.
