Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed that the number of dengue fever cases reported thus far this year is higher compared to recent years.
HPA said although the total number of recorded cases are higher in 2019, the number of cases recorded in November is lower than that reported the previous month.
HPA said the recent increase in rainfall is likely to increase the spread of diseases contracted through mosquitoes, including chikungunya and dengue. The agency urged to take preventive measures against such diseases.
HPA also reported that the number of commoncases recorded had increased compared to previous years, with 4141 cases. However, a drop was recorded in the number of cases recorded in November compared to October.
