MMPRC's board member Rafil Mohamed has resigned from the board. The exact date of Rafil's resignation remains unclear.
Sources indicate that Rafil stepped down due to dissatisfaction with some of the board's decisions. This follows the resignation of MMPRC Chairperson Aisha Noorain Janah earlier yesterday, with the reason for her departure yet to be disclosed.
Reports suggest internal conflicts within the MMPRC board, which is responsible for promoting Maldivian tourism. Tensions are said to exist between MMPRC's Managing Director Fathimath Thaufeeq and other board members, as well as a strained relationship between MMPRC and the Tourism Ministry.
