A dive wreck site has been created in Kudagiri lagoon by submerging two aircraft used during the Air Maldives era.
The Dhoonier Wreck was developed with two Dornier-228 aircraft used by the Maldives’ first flag carrier, which later ceased operation. The project is a collaboration between the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), and Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).
The project is part of the government’s efforts to promote the Maldives as a top tourism destination.
According to HDC, coral plantation will be carried out at the site to grow an artificial ecosystem.
