The number of tourists visiting the Maldives thus far this year has crossed 1.3 million.
According to the Tourism Ministry, 1.3 million tourists visited the Maldives as of the 19th of this month, an increase of 10.4 percent compared to the 1.1 million tourists recorded in the same period last year.
China remains the Maldives' top tourism market, contributing 184,000 tourists in 2024. Russia follows with 139,000 visitors, while the UK accounts for 112,000 arrivals. Italy and Germany recorded 95,900 and 91,800 tourists, respectively, with India contributing 77,000 visitors.
In August alone, the Maldives welcomed 121,179 tourists.
There are currently 1,220 tourism establishments in the Maldives. These include 174 resorts, 879 guesthouses, 153 safari vessels and 14 hotels.
