The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has introduced a new policy permitting car registration for every plot allocated under the Binveriyaa Scheme in Hulhumale Phase II.
Traditionally, cars are registered in the Male’ area only if they have an assigned garage.
The HDC recently released a "Planning and Building Policy" that allows car registration even for residential plots in Hulhumale Phase II. However, the car registered for the land must belong to the plot owner or a family member. The policy also states that no more than one car can be registered for the same plot.
The Transport Ministry has now tightened the rules for registering four-wheelers in the city. Unregistered cars and cars registered in other zones have been given a six months period to register in Male’.
