President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has decided to transfer the Communications Authority of Maldives (CAM) under the Homeland Security Ministry.
Previously, CAM was managed by the Ministry of Cities, Local Government, and Public Works under the administrative structure that has been in place since President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu assumed office in November 2023.
President Dr. Muizzu decided to transfer CAM under the powers granted to the president by Article 116(a) of the Constitution.
With this decision, the Homeland Security Ministry now oversees eight agencies, including Maldives Immigration, National Center for Information Technology (NCIT), Communications Authority of Maldives (CAM), Department of National Registration (DNR), Department of Juvenile Justice, Labor Relations Authority, and National Drug Agency (NDA), as well as National Cyber Security.
