The Maldivian government has decided to formulate a masterplan addressing various aspects of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The decision was made following discussions during a cabinet meeting held on October 16.
On recommendation from the Cabinet, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu announced the formulation of a masterplan, in accordance with regional best practices, on the application of artificial intelligence for economic advantage. The masterplan consists of risk management in utilising AI and the design of a legal framework on AI technology.
At the meeting, President Dr. Muizzu also decided that upon formulation of the masterplan, relevant documentation would be presented to the cabinet by the Homeland Security and Technology Ministry and the Economic Ministry.
