President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has concluded his visit to New York, USA, where he participated the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
During his visit, President Dr. Muizzu delivered a speech at the UNGA 79 General Debate. He also addressed the UN Security Council. This is the first time a sitting Maldivian president has addressed the council since the Maldives became a member state of the UN 59 years ago.
The president also co-chaired several high-level meetings on the sidelines of the UNGA79. His talks mainly focused on global matters such as climate change, renewable energy, social and economic challenges and digitalisation.
During the visit, the president also met with the heads of various delegations who had arrived in New York to attend UNGA79. Before leaving the United States, he delivered a speech at Princeton University’s School of Public and International Affairs, and paid a visit to Google's headquarters in New York.
