Maldives President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has held official talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on his ongoing state visit to New Delhi, India.
The high-level talks took place at Hyderabad House, the Prime Minister’s official residence in New Delhi, on Monday afternoon. During the talks, the two discussed ways to further strengthen the long-standing relationship between the Maldives and India in various fields, with a focus on with a focus on trade, tourism, and security. Modi thanked President Dr. Muizzu for attending his swearing-in ceremony earlier in June, and highlighted India's "Neighbourhood First" policy, while President Dr. Muizzu expressed appreciation for India's continued support, including a $100 million T-bill rollover and an extension of the export quota for essential goods.
Discussion topics also included the Maldives' 2040 development goal, with PM Modi pledging India's support. Other topics included agriculture, fisheries, climate change, human resource development, and women's empowerment.
