Maldives wins WHO public health award

The Maldives has been awarded a World Health Organization (WHO) award in the field of public health.

The award was presented to the Maldives at the 77th Regional Committee Meeting of the Southeast Asia Region in New Delhi, India, by WHO’s Southeast Asia Regional Director, Saima Wazeed. The Health ministry said the award recognized the Maldives’ efforts to control hepatitis B infections among children, reduce infant, under-five, neonatal and maternal mortality rates.

In addition to the Maldives Maldives, Korea, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Thailand have also won the award.
