Maldives to open embassy in Italy

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu announced that the Maldives is preparing to open an embassy in Italy.

Speaking at a ceremony held at Dharubaaruge on Sunday night on the occasion of the Republic Day, President Dr. Muizzu said the Italian government has agreed to the Maldives’ request to open an embassy. He highlighted the significance of an embassy in Italy, given Italy’s role as a leading source of tourists to the Maldives.

The President said embassies and high commissions would be opened in other countries that are important for trade relations.

In a similar move, the Maldives opened an embassy in Turkiye earlier this year.
