The Maldives is set to achieve its target of hosting 2 million tourists in 2024 by December 25, according to Tourism Minister Ibrahim Faisal.
Speaking to reporters at a ceremony held to mark the Maldives' fifth consecutive win of the World Travel Awards' World's Leading Destination Award, Minister Faisal expressed confidence in reaching this year's arrival target before the end of the year.
“Based on the current arrivals, we will be able to reach two million by December 25 at the latest,” he said.
The Tourism Ministry reports that 1.8 million tourists have visited the Maldives so far this year. In comparison, the 1.8 millionth tourist arrived on December 20 in 2023.
The daily arrival average for November has been 5,799 tourists.
