Heaviest rainfall recorded in Male’ and Hulhule’

The Maldives Meteorological Service (MET Office) has reported that the highest amount of rainfall was recorded in Hulhule’ and Male’ over the last 24 hours.

According to the MET Office, between 8:00 am on Friday to 8:00 am on Saturday, 144mm of rainfall was recorded in Hulhule’, and 142.6mm in Male’. Hulhumale’ also received 122.5mm of rain.

Male’: 142.6mm
Hulhumale’: 122.5mm

Statistics shared by the MET Office

As a result of the heavy rainfall, Male’ City was heavily flooded, with flood waters affecting several homes and businesses, causing significant damage. According to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), 226 individuals from 36 households were relocated due to extensive flooding. Food and temporary accommodation were provided by NDMA to those affected.
