Economic Ministry has revealed that over 9500 locally produced submissions have been submitted by small and mid-sized businesses for the China South Asia Expo.
Speaking to Avas, Economic Ministry's Deputy Minister Adam Thaufeeq said even though the application deadline to take part in the Expo had expired, businesses can still submit their products. He said that many small, mid-sized and large businesses had expressed interest in taking part in the Expo.
"Small and mid-sized businesses had submitted over 9500 businesses when we opened applications and submissions. Six major local businesses had assured that they will be taking part in the fair," Thaufeeq said.
He said the government will bear all costs of Expo for the participants. Thaufeeq also said arrangements will be made to sell the products of those participants unable to attend the Expo.
Maldives is the designated "country of honor" at the Expo. Unlike last year, this year, Maldives has been given a larger area to sell the products.
