Three arrested over ADK fraud

Maldives Police Service (MPS) has begin investigations into the massive fraud case, involving over a million rufiyaa, from ADK Hospital, after the arrest of three employees in connection to the case.

Police said that the case was submitted by ADK in April and a special operation was carried out in connection to the case. Under the operation, two 19 year olds and 21 year old individuals were arrested in connection to the case. All the arrested were Maldivians.

One of the arrested individuals was arrested outside of ADK. The other two were arrested within ADK grounds. At the time of arrest, large sums of cash and transaction applications was discovered from all three individuals. Police reported that the residences was also searched, which revealed additional cash and items related to the case.

"So far Police investigation has revealed that between January 1, 2016 and April 29, 2016, the three employees had pilfered over one million rufiyaa from the company accounts," Police statement said.

Criminal Court had remanded the three for seven days.
