Baglioni Hotels has reported that the company's first property in the Maldives will open next year.
Tourism trade publications reported that Maagau, an island in Dhaal Atoll, will open as Baglioni Resort Maldives in the first quarter of the year.
The resort, built with sustainable materials and measures for the maximum sustainability and efficiency, will have 99 villas, three restaurants, swimming pools, bar and spas.
Company chief executive, Guido Polito said the property will earn “significantly higher” revenues than expected. Annual turnover rose to €55 million, with the company aiming to achieve a turnover of around €58 million in 2017.
The company is also eyeing further expansion in Italy as well as hotels in New York and the Middle East.
