- No plans to lease additional land for tourism
- Tourism will be brought to developing areas
- Airport development to begin this year
President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Qayyoom has said that airports will be developed in HDh Atoll prior to the development of tourism in the atoll.
Speaking in the ceremony held to open the mosque in L. Maavah, President said airports will be developed this year in HDh. Kulhudhuffushi and Sh. Farukolhufunadhoo prior to developing tourism in HDh Atoll.
The President said the Government did not plan on leasing additional resorts or areas for resort development, but will continue to develop tourism in key areas.
He revealed that investment opportunities from the resort sector near Maavah will soon be opened, adding that investors will have to have to pay the entire investment up front. President Yameen added that the opportunity will be opened before Ramadan.
Additionally, futsal grounds and bashi courts will be created in the island in the near future, as well as the start of the sanitation network in the island.
