Dhiraagu has signed on as the title sponsor for the second season of Maldivian Idol.
This will be the second season Dhiraagu had featured as the title sponsor of the hugely successful show.
Dhiraagu Chief Executive Ismail Rasheed signed the agreement on behalf of the company. PSM Managing Director Ibrahim Khaleel signed on behalf of the media.
Speaking in the ceremony, Khaleel said Dhiraagu was one of the first companies that had signed on with the first season of the show. He added that PSM had taken a great risk with the show but that the first season was a resounding success.
He revealed that they will be able to bring out 30 artists from three seasons of Maldivian Idol.
"Maldivian Idol was a risk we took. Even in financial terms. We made the first season a success," he said.
Khaleel also revealed that season two of the show will be held in a bigger hall, able to house 3000 spectators and will be created in Hulhumale'. He also said the second season will be of a higher quality and will be radically different from the first one.
Dhiraagy MD Rasheed said Dhiraagu was not part of Maldivian Idol just as a sponsor but to bring out talented individuals and develop youth of the nation. He said Dhiraagu had sponsored the first season with the guarantee that they were contributing to youth development.
A grand total of MVR 17 million had been spent on the first season of Maldivian Idol. Speaking in the Grand Finale of the first season, Khaleel said that they had already received MVR 7 million as sponsor for season two.
