Judiciary has to respect media: Chief Justice

Chief Justice Abdullah Saeed has said that the judiciary has to respect freedom of media and become more media friendly.

Speaking in the "Judges Symposium", Chief Justice said the judiciary has to develop better ties with the media, transparent and fully respectful of the rights of media.

He had called on all media, judiciary and monitoring bodies to create a more productive environment. Chief Justice also called on heads of the judiciary to reveal their plans on marking the Open House Media Week.

Chief Justice also called on judiciary employees to unite and function as one family. He also called on all employees of the Male' Court to hold a maahefun this year as one.

As part of the Judicial Year 2016, the judiciary had conducted many activities such as knowledge sharing initiatives, drawing up procedures to address major crimes such as human trafficking.
