Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim has delivered an address at the Global Environment Facility's 8th Conference on Water.
In his address, Minister Thoriq spoke on the achievements the country had achieved over the years, especially with the Millennium Development Goals. He said the Sustainable Development Goals for 2030 was drawn up based on the successes of the MDGs. Minister also noted that President Abdullah Yameen's manifesto had been drawn up with many of the principles of the Sustainable Development Goals for 2030 in mind, adding that many sustainable environment practices had been included in the Constitution as well.
Environment Ministry said intensive discussions were held on the new Sustainable Development in the forum.
In addition to Minister Thoriq, Seychelles' Minister of Environment, Energy and Climate Change Didier Dogley briefed the partner nations on the work carried out in the country.
In addition to Minister Thoriq, department members of the water department and members of Environment Protection Agency took part in the forum. Additionally, a council member from Thoddoo took part in the forum. Global Environment Facility is conducting a safe water initiative in the island.
The purpose of the Forum held in Sri Lank was to share technical knowledge on the work carried out to manage water resources in a sustainable manner and to discuss the various projects run by the Facility in various parts of the world.
