Disaster Management Center (DMC) has said that over 12 islands and 42 individuals have been hardest hit by the current rains.
Forty two individuals from 15 families in Th. Thimarafushi were the hardest hit due to the rains.
Center's Media Coordinator Hisaan Hassan today said they had received distress messages from over 12 islands, including Thimarafushi.
Hisaan said some of the homes had been damaged beyond repair, and 15 families from Thimarafushi have been relocated to temporary housing. One family from the island is under Council care.
The Center added that even though trees have been uprooted and homes were damaged, there have been no reports of any injuries.
Hisaan added that a task force of the Center is now working with the Council to enact emergency measures to prevent further damages to homes. The Center said they were closely monitoring the situation in other islands with the assistance of the Council, especially the areas under yellow alert.
