Dhiraagu has signed up in the Hajj and Umrah scheme introduced for employees.
Dhiraagu is the 14th Government company to sign up for the scheme. The scheme allows employees to save a part of their salaries to complete Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages.
Dhiraagu CEO and MD Ismail Rasheed and Hajj Corporation Managing Director Yameen Idhris signed the agreement on behalf of their organizations.
Speaking in the ceremony, Ismail Rasheed said they had decided to participate in the scheme to facilitate a more substantial opportunity to employees to complete their pilgrimages. He noted that many find it difficult to attend Hajj and Umrah due to financial issues.
"We provide opportunity to attend Hajj sponsored by the company. But this is a limited opportunity. For most paying up the full fine up front is difficult. Through this scheme employees will be given the opportunity to save for their Hajj," Ismail said.
A savings account will be opened for every employee in Islamic Bank. The employees will have to make an initial deposit of MVR 500, with the option to deposit any amount on a regular basis.
Hajj Corporation MD Yameen Idhris said the deposit amount is at the discretion of the employee, but appealed to all to participate in the scheme.
