Man injured in market scuffle dies

A man who was involved and injured in a market scuffle last March has died yesterday while still being treated at IGMH.

The deceased was 41 year old Ahmed Riyaz from S.Feydhoo. Records show that he had suffered a head injury, and his condition remained the same during the time he was being treated.

Ahmed Riyaz was involved in a market scuffle after he allegedly stole from a stall in the market. Four people reportedly attacked him after accusing him, and he was thrown into the sea after being beaten up. He hit his head on an engine propeller when he was thrown into the sea, and suffered a severe head injury.

Riyaz reportedly bled into his brain as the result of the head injury, and had not shown any signs of recovery or improvement while doctors unsuccessfully tried to heal him. Riyaz also had broken bones and bruises as a result of the beating that he received.
