- China's CCCC to develop the property
- Initially contracted to a Sri Lankan developer
- Nasandhura leased to Galaxy
Galaxy Enterprises has begun the development of Nasandhura Palace Hotel, with China's CCCC as the subcontractor of the project.
It has been revealed to Avas that the bridge contractor for the Hulhule' Male' bridge, China Communication Construction Company (CCCC) had been set as the subcontractor for the project. The company had cleared the site and fenced off the area.
Avas had not been able to get a comment from Galaxy Enterprises.
Nasandhura Palace Hotel, managed Galaxy Enterprises, was initially handed over to a Sri Lankan developer Brown Hotel and Resort. Following this, a corruption case was filed against former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb, on the grounds that the development of the hotel granted undue benefits to a party.
Brown Group had stated that the company had invested over US$ 9.5 million in developing the property.
The Group's CEO Thilak Selvia said that a four star property will be built in place, with 150 rooms and 100 apartments. Nasandhura was put up for development after 34 years in operation.
