Adeeb planned to flee if assassination plan failed: State

The State has alleged that Adeeb had planned to flee if the assassination plot to kill President Yameen had failed. Furthermore the state has argued that Adeeb had tried to attain a visa to flee the country. The state produced a forensic report analysing Ahmed Adeeb's phone as evidence.

Former Vice President Adeeb has to prove that he is not guilty of 16 charges that the state has brought against him. The state has included 13 anonymous witnesses to testify against Ahmed Adeeb.

The state has produced evidence against the former President arguing that he had played a dominant role in planting the IED which had exploded on the launch, The state also alleges that Adeeb planned to rise to presidency after assassinating President Yaameen, and that Adeeb had tried to save a person who was implicated in the Finifenmaa blast. The state has also presented their case stating that Adeeb had weapons hidden in his Rehendhi flat and that weapons had been transported and hidden in Hibalhidhoo. The state has also alleged that both Adeeb's bodyguards had played a role in making the IED which was supposed to assassinate President Yaameen and has also presented evidence supporting this argument.

The state has also presented a number of documented evidence to support their case against Ahmed Adeeb. The documented evidence presented includes crime scene reports that the police had made after inspecting Adeeb's flat and a physical evidence examination report and a report assembled by the Ordinance Department of MNDF regarding the weapons that were found in Hibalhidhoo. The state also submitted a Medico legal report of the injuries that President's office spokesperson Ibrahim Muaz, two bodyguards and Secretary Fathmath sustained as a result of the explosion. Madam Fathmath's name was surprisingly not mentioned in the report.
