- Unfair public perceptions on the Service
- Will remove obstacles to Police mandate
Commissioner of Police Ahmed Areef has said that there were attempts to portray the Police as shields of a selected group, stating that he will not allow this to foster.
Speaking in the ceremony held yesterday in Dh. Meedhoo to inaugurate the island's Police Station, CP said there have been attempts made in the past to portray the Service as protecting the rights and serving the interest of a select group at the expense of the rest of the public.
The CP said he will seek to prevent such issues, adding that he will do what and all that is necessary to prevent such issues.
CP added that Police had always acted on resolving all issues that is faced by the public and listen to the concerns of the public. He said this work cannot be done by the Police alone, urging the public to assist in the process.
