Haaroon denies killing Holhudhoo Ismailbe

Haaroon Abdul Latheef, who stands accused of killing 73 year old Ismail Abdurahmaan of N.Holhudhoo (Ismailbe), has denied that he is guilty of the crime. The trial hearing for the murder of Ismailbe started today.

Haaroon pleaded not guilty during today's trial hearing. The state presented their case against the accused in today's trial hearing. The state's case against Haaroon states that Haaroon killed Ismailbe on the 15th of November last year, while he was walking home after stepping out of the mosque for Isha prayers. The state presented their case, saying that Haaroon was lying in wait inside a dark alley, where he lured Ismailbe and stabbed him with 10 inch blade knife. Ismailbe succumbed to his wounds and died on the 18th of November while he was being treated at R.Ungoofaaru hospital.

Haaroon stands accused of intentionally killing a person using a sharp tool or object. Haaroon pleaded not guilty today at his first trial hearing. Haaroon has requested the state for a lawyer to represent him in the trial and the judge residing on his case has granted him the opportunity.

The judge has granted 15 days for Haaroon to appoint a lawyer. He furthermore ordered that Haaroon write a letter to the Attorney General's office, requesting a lawyer.
