Maldives United Opposition has welcomed Umar Naseer following his resignation as Home Minister. His resignation came a few days after the Opposition called for his resignation.
A statement released by the Opposition said that the resignation of the Home Minister was a clear indication of the status of the Government and that it was imperative that the nation needed to be saved from the challenges and threats.
"All those who had tirelessly worked to bring President Yameen to power have been systematically excluded, to form a dictatorial regime, which has to be stopped. His cabinet Ministers have been either made to resign or removed from their positions," the statement said.
Umar Naseer had not revealed why he had chosen to resign. The sudden resignation has been accepted by the President.
