Maldives United Opposition (MUO) has said that Jumhooree Party had not signed up to participate in the coalition and that the Party's Deputy Leader Ameen Ibrahim was acting in an individual matter.
MUO Spokesperson Ahmed Mahloof made the statement at the time when the rumors that Ameen is part of the coalition representing the Party. Mahloof said JP is not part of the coalition.
Mahloof said when the coalition partners signed the agreement neither JP nor Ameen was a signatory to the agreement and therefore, JP is not a signatory of the MUO. He said the members of JP, including Ameen were acting on an individual manner.
"Members of JP cannot work in the coalition in an official manner due to the Government's actions against JP leader Qasim. That's why Ameen and JP members are in the coalition on an individual manner," Mahloof said.
Qasim had previously said that the Party had no knowledge of Ameen taking part in the opposition coalition and the 2015 May Day.
