Criminal Court has announced that Senior Judge Abdul Baaree Yoosuf will be presiding over Court hearings on remands. The Court said the decision was passed under the privileges granted to Judge Baaree as the Senior Judge.
The Court’s media official Mohamed Manik reported to Avas that the remand section is always under the mandate of the sitting senior Judge. The remands are carried out under the instructions of the Senior Judge as well.
Manik said the Senior Judge can oversee the proceedings himself or delegate the task to another Judge, adding that currently Judge Baaree is overseeing the process.
Past Senior Judges had administered the remand section.
