President Mohamed Nasheed

Nasheed commends Cameron, calls him a true partner of democratic process

Former President Mohamed Naheed has sent out a tweet of support for outgoing UK Prime Minister David Cameron, stating that “I wish Prime Minister @David_Cameron all the best”. Cameron today had resigned from his position as Prime Minister following the UK’s vote to exit European Union.

Nasheed and Cameron have a close relationship. Cameron was one of the first dignitaries Nasheed met after his release to the UK for medical treatment. Nasheed has been seeking medical treatment from a doctor referred by Cameron.

The tweet stated that he wished Cameron all the best and that he was a true partner of the democratic process in the Maldives.

Teresa May will now assume the Prime Ministerial position.
