Talks can be held only after freeing leaders: Nasheed

Former President Mohamed Nasheed has stated the opposition will participate in the All Party Talks when all jailed political leaders were freed from jail.

In a tweet posted today, the former President, currently living in exile in UK, said the talks that are beneficial and productive cannot be held while political leaders are in jail.

While Nasheed had made this statement, the Government today announced that the Party talks will begin tomorrow as the UN envoy had arrived today.

Dr. Shainee today even stressed that national development was the priority now and said that the Government was willing to negotiate and compromise when the situation required it.
