India ready to collaborate on business with Maldives: Mishra

  • Two nations closely linked
  • Can develop better relations with Indian businesses
  • Investment Forums open more investment opportunities

Indian High Commissioner to the Maldives Akhilesh Mishra has stated that India was ready to collaborate with Maldives on developing further business ties.

Speaking in the ceremony held in Hotel Jen to launch the Maldives Investment Forum 2016, Mishra said that the two nations enjoyed a close brotherhood, rather a normal bilateral relationship. He said this relationship had provided many opportunities.

In his address Mishra said that both countries needed to further capitalize on the existing business relationships, adding that India was prepared to collaborate on terms favorable to the Maldives. He said that Maldives needed to boost communication with Indian businesses. Mishra added that the Investment Forum was a positive step in the direction.

"We have to look beyond ordinary businesses. This has to be the area that's most beneficial to the Maldives," Mishra said

Mishra said that local businesses will be most aware of their needs and where they can expand, adding that this has to be communicated with their Indian counterparts. He stressed on the need for transparency and assured that Indian Government will assist in finding investors.

"I want to hold brain storming sessions in Maldives for Indian businesses before the Forum. [I] will provide all required assistance," Mishra said.

The Maldives Investment Forum will be held in New Delhi, from November 21 - 22.
