Passports of Ali Waheed, Moho, Oittey cancelled

Immigration has cancelled passports of MDP Chairperson Ali Waheed, SOF shareholder Mohamed Allaam Latheef (Moho).

In addition to Ali Waheed and Moho, passports for former member of FAM Normalization Committee Mohamed Hussain (Oittey), former Chair of MMPRC and HDC Mohamed Aseel and Mohamed Wisham, a close associate of former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb, had also been cancelled.

Immigration said that relevant authorities had been informed of their cancellations. The Department said their passports were rescinded as concerned authorities had stated they were wanted for questioning over on going cases under investigations. Immigration also said that those parties will not be allowed to travel or reside in another country on basis of the Maldivian passport.

Interpol had issued red notices for Moho, Oittey, Aseel and Wisham in connection to the MVR 1.5 billion embezzlement case of MMPRC. Both Moho and Ali Waheed now live in the UK.

Immigration had previously rescinded the passports of former President Mohamed Nasheed and former Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed. Passports have been cancelled for former State Ministers Akram Kamaluddin and Ahmed Naseem as well as one of the conspirators of the November 3, 1988 terrorist attack Abdullah Luthfee.

Immigration said that this had been increasing and that it was deeply worrying for concerned authorities. Immigration said that if the five wished to return back to the Maldives, they must arrange for a travel document from Foreign Ministry.
