MPL fuel supply has to be given to Meridium: Civil Court

Civil Court has issued a temporary injunction ordering Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) not to contract their fuel supply needs to any company other than Meridium Services. -- Meridium is owned by Vilufushi Constituency MP Riyaz Rasheed.

Civil Court issued this injunction after Meridium filed case in Court, claiming that MPL had breached the terms of the agreement to source all their fuel requirements only from Meridum, by contracting to another company. The temporary injunction was issued after Meridium had requested for it.

The case filed by the company said MPL had violated the contractual obligations by sourcing their fuel from another service provider. The agreement was awarded to Meridium in last April and the contracts remains in its full force.

The case filed by Meridum had requested for a temporary injunction until Civil Court reached a decision on the case. Civil Court ruling on the issue stated the injunction was issued as Meridium could face immense losses, as claimed by their lawyers in Court.

No statement on MPL had been issued and the company had failed to answer the summons for the trial.
