Training is instrumental to devoloping workers

Whether it is to run a business, or an organization, proper training of workers is an important thing. When looking to travel somewhere through the air, the pricing on two tickets may differ on the same class of the same airline. Investigation of this matter reveals that this difference occurs in relation to the pilots and their training. The more flight with the better trained pilot has a higher price when compared to the flight with an untrained pilot. The reason that this happens is that training pilots is a costly thing so the flight with the better trained pilot must have more expensive seats.

This example is theoretical, but the point remains the same, being that would you travel on a flight with an untrained pilot no matter how cheap the tickets? I would assume that no one would board that flight no matter how cheap the tickets.

But despite things being like this, many businessmen fail to think about the importance of training workers. This is not without cause, as training someone is something that requires both time and money. Or sometimes, the employer simply fails to comprehend the importance of proper training.

Some important advantages acquired by giving proper training

  • Employees learning the changes coming to their field
  • The quality of service improves and the customers trust builds up
  • Easier to rise up against competition
  • Determines in which area a worker lacks skills and provides solutions for it
  • Increases the motivation of the workers and makes them happy about their job
  • More skilled workers out in the field

Many other such things can be included in this list. Nevertheless, if you think about the points mentioned in the list above, it shows that every one of those points can contribute to the success and progress of a business.

Lets take focus on one of these points. The improving motivation of the worker and how happy he is about his job. No matter how successful a particular businessman may be, it would be highly unlikely that the business would succeed without the help of all its employees. So how is motivating the employees to help move the business forward something we can avoid. Training the employees at the expense of the business is something that makes the workers outlook more positive on the business and it encourages them to stay on at their jobs as well. The money spent on training the workers is just an investment back into the business.

Training workers is even more important in the service sector of business. For example, take workers at a guest house or hotel. The people who come requiring these services are usually looking to spend a holiday. While spending their time away from their families, one of their biggest wishes would to receive a good quality of service. This is only possible if the workers at the hotel or guest house know how to give proper training. The workers can only learn how to give proper service, when their managers set their standards and provide them with the training that is required to give service to those standards. It is important to note that just hiring untrained workers and expecting the service to be up to standard is foolish.

Another name given to the hotel industry is the hospitality industry. Hospitality means treating the customers like they are at home and giving a good service. As you may know, most hotel bookings are done online these days through websites such as Agoda or Booking.com. When choosing the country you would like to visit on one of these websites, the lists of hotels in those countries come up. The important thing to note here is that the way those hotels are listed is due to customer reviews and comments. A majority of these comments are related to the quality of service provided by the hotel. And the most important thing about deciding which hotel you would stay in is the comments others have given about this hotel.

In other words, the business of a hotel or guest house is directly connected to the service they provide. It is only possible to give a quality service by setting standards and making sure the workers are trained to provide service at those standards. While hotels, safaris and guest houses are spreading in the Maldives, it is important for business owners to keep this in mind.

The most important factor of these businesses would not be to just take the money from a customer and send them home, but to please the customer with good service so that he may choose to come back again. Humans are prone to share their experiences with one another. So it is important for the business to make sure that the guest who leave talk to their friends and family about the good quality of service they received. The comment that one guest will make on Booking.com or another travel advisor website is going to be read by thousands of different people. The only way to decide whether that comment is a good or bad one is the service he received while at the hotel. The only way to do that is if the management is prepared, and the workers are trained and ready for the task.

Every business has some level of service in it. Whether it is in or out of the hotel industry, the only way to rise above competitors would be to make sure the quality of service provided is up to the highest standards.
