The Maldives government had promised of at least 50 new resort establishments under the administration of incumbent president Abdulla Yameen.
While more than 20 new resorts opened up last year, 24 new outlets are slated for their grand opening in 2018.
Some of the resorts slated for their official opening include some new additions to their existing chains of internationally renowned brands.
Here's a look at some of these anticipated new resorts that are slated for early opening;
Sirru Fenfushi
Developed at Shaviyani atoll Gaakoshibi, Sirru Fenfushi is a luxury island slip with 120 high-end villas. The outlet cost approximately USD 100 million dollar and is set for welcoming its first tourists on April, a month away.
The most noteworthy aspect of Sirru Fenfushi is the underwater sculpture museum - regarded as the planned main attraction of the resort.
Lux - Male' atoll
A renowned hotelier brand, Lux already enjoys servicing guests at one of their resorts in Maldives. The new addition to its chain, Lux - Male' atoll, boasts 67 penthouses with rooftop bars and swimming pools.
While the exact opening date is still a mystery, those who are on a keen lookout can expect a blissful vegetation and top-class service; the concept art is quite appealing as well!
Movenpick Kuredhivaru
You all have enjoyed seeing those utopian sci-fi movies with beautiful scenery and unbelievable abodes. Dreams do come true! And the Movenpick Kuredhivaru is created on the promise of delivering you just that.
Developed at Shaviyani atoll Kuredhivaru by Deep Ocean Technologies, Poland partnered up with Zen Resort at Kuredhivaru to deliver the first ever underwater hotel in the world - you can take that statement to home!
The resort has been developed on an estimated budget of USD 50 million. While the opening date evades any confirmation, it is expected to open up early this year.
The resort will be managed and operated by international hotelier brand Movenpick Hotels.
Baglioni Maldives
It's not just the pasta the Italians are good at, they run resorts pretty decently too.
Officially dubbed 'Baglioni Maldives' will be the first ever resort in the island nation by the Italian hotelier giant.
Developed at Dhaalu atoll Maagu, the island will consist of 99 beach and water villas stretching its slip. The resort will also boast three 870 square meter 'Presidentes Villas' designated for high-end visitors. These 3 villas will house a private pool in each of them with jacuzzis.
Baglioni Maldives will serve cuisines ranging from Japanese to International as well as Italian through its three distinct food outlets.
Carpe Diem Beach Resort
Yes indeed! Seize the day!
Developed at Raa atoll Huruvalhi the resort is slated for grand opening on June 2018. Under the tutelage famed local businessman Amir Mansoor, his Carpe Diem company promises to deliver a 115-pool villa resort with top-class service.
The resort rests 15 minutes away from Baa atoll - a UNESCO protected region in the Maldivian archipelago.
Kudadhoo Private Island
