Bassam's team announced with six Parliament Members

Bassam Adil who is campaigning to be the President of the Football Association of Maldives (FAM) has announced his team which includes six Members of Parliament.

Bassam's Vice President is to be the Member of Parliament for the Fares Maathoda constituency, Mohamed Latheef. The second Vice President will be the famous former volleyball and basketball player, Aishath Nazima.

The Executive Committee members selected from the Members of Parliament include Member of the Thinadhoo constituency Abdulla Ahmed, and Member of the Madaveli constituency Muaz Mohamed Rasheed, Member of the Dhuvaafaru constituency, Mohamed Ali, Member of the Fuvahmulah constituency Ali Shah as well as the Member for the Hanimaadhoo constituency, Hussain Shahudhee. The other member of the Committee is the Sales Manager of Maldives Gas, Mohamed Shifau.

Bassam, who is currently the General Secretary of FAM, says he will officially launch his campaign on next Thursday, and announce his manifesto as well.

The FAM elections will be held on the 20th of next month. Bassam will be competing against the winner of the elections held 5 months ago, and the former striker for the Maldives national team and Parliament Member for the Mahibadhoo constituency, Ahmed Thoriq (Tom).

The elections are being held because five members of the Executive Committee were not happy with Tom's management and resigned, making Tom lose his position. He had removed Bassam as the General Secretary before that, but FIFA insisted that this was against the basic guidelines and reinstated him.

The members who resigned from the Executive Committee include Nazim, the Vice President and former forward for the national team Ali Umar, the captain of the team that won the SAFF Champions Cup, Assad Abdul Ghani, national team physician Ahmed Shakeeb as well as T.C's Ahmed Easa.
